Grant Application Guidelines
The Scarlett Family Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that are based in middle Tennessee that provide educational services to students of all ages. Middle Tennessee is defined as the counties listed in the chart below. Requests for support for counties not listed are not considered.

Application Process
The funding priority of the Foundation is the college scholarship program; thus limiting the available dollars for grants. Because of the limited grant funding, application is by invitation only. To find out if your organization meets the Foundation's education preferences, please email us through our Contact Us page and we will respond promptly.
Each application must be accompanied with the following documents:
- A tax determination letter indicating your tax exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3), which identifies your your 509(a)status.
- Directory of officers and directors.
- Most recent audited financial statement or most recent federal tax return.
- Project budget.
The Scarlett Family Foundation will consider:
- multi-year requests;
- one application per organization within a 12 month period.
The Scarlett Family Foundation does NOT fund grants for the following:
- individuals;
- newsletters, magazines;
- tickets to charitable events or dinners;
- sponsor special events, productions, telethons, performances, or similar fundraising and advertising activities;
- legislative lobbying or other political purposes;
- retire accumulated debt.
Review Process
All organizations requesting grants are subject to a review process that includes submission of an application, initial application review with the Foundation Executive Director, a site visit, and approval by the Scarlett Family Foundation's Board of Directors.
The Foundation's fiscal year ends June 30th. The Foundation's Board of Directors meets throughout the year to fullfill its responsibilities in approving grants for nonprofit organizations. Grant award recepients for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010 will be notified by September 15, 2010 and checks will be deilvered by October 1, 2010.
Each grant recepient is required to sign a grant agreement and must submit a progress report in 6 month intervals.
